If you’ve ever found yourself stuck inside a jacket or pair of boots and the zipper has suddenly seized up, you’ll understand the frustration. As tempting as it may be to get the scissors and cut yourself out, you don’t want to ruin your garments, or have to take them to a tailor, especially when there’s a simple solution that’s probably sitting in your cupboard right now.
If you have a can of WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant on hand, you’re in luck, because this is one of the best ways to unstick a stubborn zipper. Simply aim the nozzle at the stuck area and spray a little product onto it, wait a second and try again. You should be able to undo your zipper in a few seconds.
If the zipper is on a tent, camping or fishing bag, or any other item that is frequently exposed to the elements, your problem could actually be that there is a little rust on the zipper. No problem, a little WD-40 should be able to free that too, and, because WD-40 is a water displacer, it’ll keep your metal zipper temporarily free from rust for a while.
