If you’re a fan of used car parts, or simply have a slightly older car, you may have come across rust on your chrome parts. Technically, chrome doesn’t rust, but the metal material it’s bonded to will, so you’ll still need to remove rust from your chrome car parts from time to time.
Removing rust from chrome car parts is easier than you think. Simply spray the affected area with WD-40 Multi-Use Product, leave on for about 10 minutes, then with a light abrasive like a scourer, scrub the surface lightly to remove some of the rust, while avoiding scratching the chrome. Once you’ve removed the surface rust and rinsed the area, apply an extra layer and wipe down. This will leave a light film of WD-40 that will continue to act as a temporary rust protector. If you repeat this second step regularly, you can prevent further corrosion of your chrome parts.
